Chess

This fun class is designed and paced especially for beginner chess players and those with minimal chess experience. Students will learn the rules of chess quickly by playing a series of interactive mini‐games, which gradually introduce more complex elements and ideas. With the fundamentals established, students will play lots of chess and practice a wide range of tactics including important checkmate patterns. Students will complete this class with a firm grasp of the rules of chess, opening principles and basic endgames. Emphasis will be placed on critical thinking and problem solving.
